Wheels

Wheel repairs are a necessity when unfortunate incidents take place while driving like hitting a curb, pothole, or other types of accidents. If you have a vibration or the car is pulling to one direction, chances are you may have damaged the wheel. If you have a damaged wheel, get the wheel repaired or replaced to avoid any further problems. We all know that driving takes a toll on your auto parts, and wheels are no exception.

Wheel repairs start at $25 and up. Any type of repair can do wonders to increase the value of your car dramatically. Whether you have a bent or cracked wheel or are in need of a custom wheel repair, Tire Stop has got you covered for life.

Alignments

Have you ever noticed while driving straight that your steering wheel is not pointed straight, or when you let go of the steering wheel the car pulls to one side or your steering wheel has a vibration in it. This is because your alignment is off, and your ability to drive safely is compromised. When your wheels are out of alignment, your tires aren’t pointing in the right direction. This will affect your steering and suspension. More importantly, it could affect your safety and life of your tires.

Our Front-End or Four-Wheel alignments can assess any measurements that are off from the original specs. By adjusting the angles of your vehicle’s wheels to the original specs, you are:

  • increasing the life of your tires
  • creating a better ride
  • getting better gas mileage

And it can improve your overall safety, by increasing the amount of the tire in contact with the road and preventing your vehicle from pulling to the left or the right.

We recommend having an alignment done whenever:

  • you notice uneven tire wear
  • you notice the car is pulling to the right or left when you drive
  • you hit a large bump, curb, or pothole, or
  • you purchase new tires. When you purchase new tires from Tire Stop, you receive a discount on your alignment

Come into Tire Stop for any questions regarding your alignment. We can provide you consultation to assess whether your vehicle needs an alignment.

Disclaimer: We cannot perform alignment services on all vehicles due to limiting restrictions; this includes models like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and etc. Call for vehicle compatibility.

A major inconvenience for any driver is having a flat tire. In realization that the spare needs to be installed, the headache of dealing with the flat tire can put a damper on anyone’s schedule. Most flat tires occur due to some type of puncture in the tire. Other causes could be due to extreme tire wear in which cases we recommend replacing the tire because of safety issues.

Any type of tire repair can save you a significant amount of time and money. Whether you have a defective tire, flat tire, or need us to evaluate a tire, bring it into Tire Stop and we can give you a full assessment of all your options.

Brakes

Stopping is the most critical function of every moving vehicle. We all assume our brakes are working as expected until we’re in a situation where they are put to the ultimate test. What we think is working ‘ok’ could easily become a problem that needs repair or replacement parts. The good new is that Tire Stop can help you along the entire way of understanding your braking needs.

To understand the braking system, lets break down the ‘connected parts’; when you press down on the brake pedal, that tells the cylinders to supply brake fluid to your calipers so they can power your brake pads. Pressure from your brake pads are then applied to your rotors, providing the right amount of friction necessary to stop your car.

At Tire Stop, we offer free front end brake inspections to all. Our brake inspection covers all the intricacies of your particular make and model’s brake system. After our inspection, we’ll provide you with a complete report regarding the condition of your parts. If any repairs or replacements are needed, we can deliver the services and parts to bring your brakes back to manufacturer specifications.

Come into Tire Stop for any questions regarding your brakes. We can provide you a thorough analysis of your brake needs.

Suspension

Everyone enjoys a smooth, comfortable ride and your vehicle suspension makes sure it stays that way. When suspension parts wear down over use, you lose handling and steering control. The suspension is made up of various parts that are all connected together to deliver the best handling and steering. Your suspension's most important job is to keep all four tires in full contact with the road, so that steering, driving and braking systems are effective. The main parts making up the suspension which require maintenance are as follows:

  • shock absorbers
  • struts/cartridges
  • coil springs
  • ball joints
  • bushings
  • sway bar links
  • center links
  • idler arms/pitman arms
  • rack and pinion units
  • tie rod ends/sleeves
  • cv joints/boots
  • cv axle half shafts
  • universal joints and springs

At Tire Stop, we offer free front end suspension inspections to all. Our suspension inspection covers all the intricacies of your particular make and model’s suspension system. After our inspection, we’ll walk you through the condition of your parts. Wheel (Rim) Leaks

Leaks in a wheel result from the types of alloy material usually used in most vehicles today. There are various ways a wheel leak can take form. The most common ways are from either an accident or wheel erosion. This type of leak usually happens when the bead seal area, where the tire meets the wheel, is exposed causing a leak.

To understand if you have a wheel leak or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Bent Wheels

Many people experience bent wheels from harsh road conditions or an unfortunate accident. A bent wheel can easily be repaired. A bent wheel can accelerate tire wear which can result in a greater chance of a tire blow out. It can also reduce gas mileage.

Repairing a bent wheel can be a far less expensive method than to purchase a new wheel and never assume that your damaged wheel is beyond repair. There are ways to repair just about every type of damage. Repairs can usually be done in a few hours.

To understand if you have a bent wheel or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Cracked Wheels

From normal use or from an unfortunate accident, a cracked wheel can be very dangerous to drive on. Small cracks can lead to air leaks and have the ability to worsen over time causing a blow out. Large cracks can prevent a tire from holding air and eventually spread, causing the structural integrity of the wheel to be lost. Either size can have dangerous consequences if they are not looked at by professionals early enough.

Our repair methods include welding the cracks and refinishing the weld which is a much stronger method than using any type of sealing compounds. Our method also prevents that crack from getting worse over time.

If you would like us to have a look at your cracked wheel or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Patch, Plug, and Sealants

There are many methods to repairing a tire. Any repair attempted without removing the tire from the wheel is improper. Without inspecting the inside of the tire for hidden damage comes the risk of repairing a tire back to minimal standards.

Our method removes the tire from the wheel for a visual assessment inside and out. We then determine the path the object took through the tire and any damage to the innerliner of the tire. This open path is plugged so there is no moisture that can reach the steel belts and the casing cords which are prone to rust and deterioration. Any damage to the innerliner is also patched so the tire is sealed with no air leaks. This overall process will ensure that any tire damage is properly contained and repaired.

If you would like us to have a look at your tire damage or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Tire Checks

Tires are an important part of our vehicle. Tires make sure we have traction on the road and absorb a lot of harsh road conditions. Being in Michigan, we are prone to excessive tire wear. If you experience your braking distance has increased, the ride quality has diminished, or loud noises as you speed up, these could all be symptoms of your tires going bad.

Here at Tire Stop, we will inspect your tires to ensure you are traveling safely in your vehicle. If you would like us to have a look at your tires or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Front-End or Four-Wheel Alignment

Front-End alignments are used on some vehicles featuring a solid rear axle. The front wheels of the vehicle are adjusted so they are parallel to the centerline of your vehicle. This is the simplest and most basic alignment.

Four-wheel alignments are performed on vehicles with adjustable rear suspension. All four wheels are aligned to the center of the vehicle. In addition, the rear axle angles are measured and adjusted. A four-wheel alignment restores all four corners of your vehicle to manufacturer’s specifications. This type of alignment is most important for vehicles with front-wheel drive and/or an adjustable rear-wheel suspension.

When you do an alignment you will receive the following services:

  • Inspect vehicle suspension and steering systems, including tire air pressure and tire condition
  • Vehicle placed on an alignment rack, where laser sensors are mounted and measure the current alignment settings
  • Print initial tire alignment readings
  • Camber, caster and toe angles are adjusted according to manufacturer specifications
  • Print final tire alignment readings
  • Test drive the vehicle

Come into Tire Stop or call us for any questions regarding your alignment. We can provide you consultation to assess which type of alignment your vehicle requires.

Disclaimer: We cannot perform alignment services on all vehicles due to limiting restrictions; this includes models like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and etc. Call for vehicle compatibility.

Brake Pads and Shoes

Brake pads are the parts that press against your rotors. The friction is used in order to bring your car to a precise stop. As the brakes are applied repeatedly over thousands of miles, the brake pads gradually wear down, reducing their ability to stop the car.

Some current vehicles have a wear indicator in which a small piece of metal attached to the brake pad that contacts the rotor when the pad material has been worn down to a certain level. When the wear indicator grinds against the rotor, it makes a squealing noise as you apply the brakes. This noise is a signal which tells you it's time to have your brakes examined. If the brake pad is severely worn down, it can leave deep, circular-shaped marks and grooves in the brake rotor. Those marks, called scores, look a lot like the grooves on a record and are a sign that the brake pads need to be replaced. If the scoring on the rotor is particularly deep -- from lack of timely maintenance -- the rotor itself may need to be swapped out with a new one.

Your brake pads should last tens of thousands of miles, but that depends on the specific vehicle you drive and your own driving habits. The more you use your brakes, the shorter the lifespan of your brake pads.

If you would like us to have a look at your braking needs or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Rotor Changes

The rotor is directly connected to each wheel. In order for a car to stop properly, all four rotors have to stop. The brake pads that are attached to each rotor create the friction needed to bring those spinning rotors, and your vehicle, to a stop. The rotors wear every time the brakes are applied.

If the grooves don't run too deep into the surface of the rotor, you may be able to have them turned (or machined) to give the rotor a new, smooth surface. Typically, turning a set of rotors costs less than replacing a set of rotors.

If, when you press your brake pedal, you find that you feel a vibration or wobble, it is very possible that the rotors have become twisted or warped. That will be more likely to be the case if you have been hearing a grinding sound a while and have ignored it. Brakes get tremendously hot when hit and the metal will easily warp. If you feel a wobble or vibration when you brake, it will be a warning that the brake pads are failing to make a good contact with the brake rotors.

Corrosion also can kill rotors. All rotors rust to some extent when a vehicle is parked and is not driven for a period of time. The pads will usually scrape the rust off after a few stops, but until then the rust is interfering with the pads and reducing their stopping ability.

If you would like us to have a look at your braking needs or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.

Brake Fluid Flush

By pressing on the brake pedal, pressure is created in your brake lines sending brake fluid traveling to each caliper. This then activates your brake pads creating the friction needed to bring your car to a stop.

The vehicle's master cylinder acts as the heart and pumps brake fluid through the brake lines to the brake pads and calipers. Parts, like the rubber in the valves in the master cylinder, calipers and wheel cylinders deteriorate. All the residue and gunk that flake off end up in your brake fluid. Plus, the fluid itself can get old and worn out. Moisture can also get in the system. This type of combination leads to rust, which leads to more residues in your brake fluid. All this adds up to a brake system with compromised effectiveness and decreased stopping power. Any type of leak can diminish your stopping power. Brake fluid leaks are hard to detect. They could lead to your vehicle needing more time to stop or even not stopping at all. Without brake fluid, brakes can’t even function.

If you would like us to have a look at your braking needs or have any questions, come into Tire Stop or give us a call. We guarantee all of our work for the life of the product.
